Lograin 200 tablet: Each film-coated tablet contains Tolfenamic Acid BP 200 mg
Lograin (Tolfenamic acid) is a potent prostaglandin biosynthesis inhibitor. It is an NSAID with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. It acts by inhibiting prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis.
It is indicated for the treatment of Acute Migraine
Adults: 200 mg when the first symptoms of migraine appear. The treatment can be repeated once after 1-2 hours if a satisfactory response is not obtained.
Children: Pediatrics’ dosage regimen has not yet been established.
Elderly: Normal adult dose.
Lograin (Tolfenamic acid) is contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulceration, significantly impaired kidney or liver function and in patients in whom attacks of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by aspirin or other NSAIDs.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, bleeding disorders, heart diseases, peptic ulcer, high blood pressure, infections, liver or kidney impairment, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Tolfenamic Acid is well tolerated at the recommended dose. Side effects includes painful urination especially in males, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, indigestion, redness of the skin, headache, tremor, emotional, fatigue and pulmonary infiltration.
Pregnancy Category- C. Studies in pregnant women have not been established. So, the use of other NSAIDs, tolfenamic acid should not be given in the last trimester, due to risks of premature closure of the ductus arteriosus and prolonged parturition.
In patients treated with anticoagulants, close monitoring of blood coagulation
is recommended. Diuretics : The effect of loop diuretics may be reduced. Lithium : The effect of
lithium may be increased
Symptoms include Nausea,Vomiting,epigastric pain,diarrhoea,excitation.coma,drowsiness,dizziness,tinnitus,fainting,convulsions.In cases of significant poisioning,acute renal failure,liver damage are possible
Store in a room temperature and dry place protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Each box contains 3x10 tablets in Alu-Alu Blister pack.
