Azopt Eye Drops : Each ml sterile ophthalmic solution contains Dorzolamide Hydrochloride BP 20 mg and Timolol Maleate BP 5 mg.
Dorzolamide is in a class of medications called topical carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors. Timolol is in a class of medications called topical beta blockers. Dorzolamide & Timolol lowers pressure in the eye by decreasing the production of natural fluids in the eye.
Azopt is indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to topical beta blockers.
Instill one drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) twice daily.
This drug is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any of the components of this preparation.
For ophthalmic use only. Patients should remove their contact lenses prior to instilling this preparation and should not insert their lenses until 15 minutes after instillation of the preparation.
Mild burning, ocular hyperemia, blurred vision may occur. Taste changes (bitter, sour, or unusual taste), Itchy eyes, Dry eyes, Eye tearing, Dizziness.
Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category C. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. This medication should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Lactation: Caution should be exercised when Dorzolamide & Timolol is administered to a nursing mother.
This medication may interact with Topiramate, Methyldopa, Clonidine and Epinephrine.
If overdose is suspected, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: dizziness, headache, and shortness of breath, difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest pain, confusion.
Store at 15°-25°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
