ZINC SULFATE MONOHYDRATE USP

ZINCTAB-20 TABLET 20 MG 60 S TABLET

Each tablet contains Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP equivalent to elemental Zinc 20 mg.

Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate is a source of Zinc which is an essential trace element required for human nutrition and involved in a number of body enzyme system. Severe Zinc deficiency causes skin lesion, alopecia, diarrhoea, increased susceptibility of infections, cognitive impairment and failure to thrive in children. Symptoms of less severe deficiency include distorted or absent perceptions of taste and smell, poor wound healing. Therapy should continue until clinical improvement and be replaced by dietary measures unless there is severe malabsorption, metabolic disease or continuous Zinc loss.

Zinc is essential for the correction of Zinc deficiency problems like growth retardation, decreased taste and smell, alopecia, dermatitis, diarrhoea, immunological dysfunction, failure to thrive, gonadal atrophy, impair spermatogenesis and congenital information.

Zinctab-20 tablet: One tablet 1 to 3 times daily (oral) or as recommended by the physician.

Hypersensitivity to Zinc, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal disturbances.

Oral Zinc therapy should only be given when there is a good evidence of deficiency.

Side effects of Zinc are abdominal pain and dyspepsia.

Pregnancy category C. Safety for use in pregnancy has not been established.

May decrease the absorption of other drugs such as tetracycline antibiotics, bisphosphonates and quinolone antibiotics. Food may decrease absorption of this medicine into bloodstream.

Zinc Sulfate is corrosive in overdose. Symptoms are corrosion and inflammation of the mucous membrane of the mouth and stomach. In case of overdosing, demulcents such as milk should be given and chelating agent e.g. Sodium Edetate may be useful.

Store at room temperature (Below 30°C). Away from light and moisture.

Each box contains 6 x 10 tablets.
