Ostorin Tablet: Each tablet contains Glucosamine Sulfate 750 mg as Glucosamine Sulfate Potassium Chloride USP and Diacerein INN 50 mg.

Ostorin is the combination of 750 mg of Glucosamine sulfate and 50 mg Diacerein. Two symptomatic slow acting drug in Osteoarthritis. Diacerein is a new anti - inflammatory analgesic and antipyretic drug which directly inhibits IL - 1 beta synthesis and release in vitro and down modulates IL - 1 induced activities and have been shown to possess disease modifying effect in human subjects with finger joint and knee Osteoarthritis. Glucosamine Sulfate is a naturally occurring chemical found in the human body and it is commonly used in osteoarthritis.

Ostorin is primarily indicated in conditions like Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis and Bone and joint injuries.

Adult and Children 12 years and older: The usual dose of Ostorin is 1 tablet twice daily (12 hourly) taken with food.

There are no known contraindications for Glucosamine. But proven hypersensitivity to Glucosamine is a contraindication. Diacerein is contraindicated in pregnancy, lactation and hypersensitivity to anthraquinone derivatives.

Caution should be practiced when administering Ostorin in those patients who are allergic to Glucosamine and/or Diacerein or to shellfish (shrimp, crab); who have diabetes, asthma, alcohol dependence or liver disease. Before taking Ostorin complete blood count, liver function and urinalysis should be monitored regularly.

Diarrhea, constipation, epigastric pain, heart burn, nausea, vomiting, headache, skin rashes, drowsiness, intense yellow coloring of urine may be associated with the active components of Ostorin.

Glucosamine and Diacerein are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Absorption of Diacerein is reduced if taken with aluminium and/or magnesium hydroxide antacid. Diacerein also increases risk of diarrhea if taken with laxatives, antibiotics. Avoid co-administration with fibers and phytic acids. Diacerein has shown hypersensitivity to anthraquinone derivatives.

There is no data available regarding overdose of this combination.

Store at a cool and dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
