Nosemin Tablet: Each film coated tablet contains Cetirizine Dihydrochloride BP 10 mg Nosemin Syrup: Each 5 ml of syrup contains Cetirizine Dihydrochloride BP 5 mg.

Nosemin (Cetirizine) is a piperazine derivative and a potent antagonist of histamine H1 receptor without any significant anticholinergic and antiserotonin effects. It is a long acting antihistamine. Cetirizine is rapidly absorbed within 1 hour of oral administration. Food does not reduce the extent of its absorption. The plasma protein binding is 93%. The terminal elimination half life ranges from 6.7 hr. to 10.9 hr. The drug is eliminated mainly by renal excretion as unchanged drug.

Nosemin is indicated for the prevention and symptomatic relief of allergic manifestations such as: • Seasonal allergic rhinitis • Perennial allergic rhinitis • Chronic idiopathic urticaria

Nosemin Tablet: Adults and Children over 6 years: 10 mg (1 tablet) once daily. Nosemin Syrup: Adults and Children over 6 years: 10 mg (2 tea spoonful) daily. Children (2-6 years): 5 mg (1 teaspoonful) daily or 2-5 mg (1/2 teaspoonful) twice daily. Dosage in renal & hepatic impairment: Dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, hepatic impairment and patients on dialysis.

Cetirizine is contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to it or its parent compound- Hydroxyzine.

Caution should be exercised when driving a car or operating heavy machineries. Concurrent use of Cetirizine with alcohol or other CNS depressants should be avoided because reduction in alertness and impairment of CNS activity may occur. Children: Cetirizine is effective and well-tolerated in children. No special precautions are required in children over 6 years of age.

Dry mouth, constipation, transient bradycardia (followed by tachycardia , arrhythmias), dilatation of the pupils, raised intraocular pressure have been reported infrequently during treatment with Hyoscine- N- Butyl Bromide.

Pregnancy: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women using Cetirizine. Therefore Cetirizine should be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed. Lactating Mother: Cetirizine has been reported to be excreted in breast milk and thus, use of Cetirizine in lactating mother is not recommended.

Do not use with any other antihistamines applied to the skin (such as diphenhydramine cream, ointment, spray) because increased side effects may occur. Cetirizine is very similar to hydroxyzine and levocetirizine. Do not use these medications while using cetirizine.

Symptoms of overdose may include: severe drowsiness. In children, mental/mood changes (such as restlessness, irritability) may occur before drowsiness.

Store at room temperature (below 30OC), away from light and moisture.
