Clotrimazole BP 1 % w/w.
Fungin Cream contains Clotrimazole BP, a synthetic antifungal agent, It is a broad spectrum antifungal agent and is used for the treatment of dermal infections caused by various species of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts and Malassezia furfur. The primary action of clotrimazole is against cell dividing and growing organisms. Absorption of clotrimazole in the skin is less than 0.5%.
Fungin Cream is indicated for the following external infections: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Tinea cruris, Tinea pedis, and Tinea corporis. It is also used for the infections caused by Malassezia furfur and Tinea versicolor.
Adequate Fungin Cream should be thinly applied 2-3 times daily to the diseased sites and rubbed in. After the prevention of the infection, it should be continued for 14 days.
Clotrimazole is contraindicated in individuals who have shown hypersensitivity to any of its components.
If irritation or hypersensitivity develops with the use of clotrimazole, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy should be instituted. The course of the cream should be completed although the symptoms are removed.
A Small fraction of recipients, clotrimazole on the skin may causes stinging, erythema, edema, vesication, desquamation, pruritus and urticaria.
Infact a slight amount of medicine is absorbed in the blood when apply to the skin. Adequate examination had not done about the administration of the cream.It is unknown that wheather it is secreted to human milk and caution should be exercised when treating nursing mothers.
