Fruson 20 Tablet : Each tablet contains Frusemide BP 20 mg & Spironolactone BP 50 mg.

Fruson is a combination drug containing a short-acting loop diuretic, Frusemide and a long-acting aldosterone antagonist, potassium-sparing diuretic Spironolactone. Spironolactone and Frusemide have different but complementary mechanisms and sites of action. Combination exhibits synergistic diuretic effect. Frusemide inhibits Na+/K+/2Cl- co-transport at ascending limb of loop of Henle and there occurs inhibition of electrolyte and water reabsorption. Spironolactone acts on collecting tubule to block the aldosterone receptors competitively, inhibiting sodium retention and potassium secretion. As a result sodium excretion is largely enhanced and loss of potassium is suppressed and a total positive effect on diuresis is achieved.

Fruson is indicated for • Essential hypertension • Congestive cardiac failure • Liver cirrhosis, with ascites • Oedema • Resistant oedema associated with secondary hyperaldosteronism • Hyperaldosteronism
