Estazol is indicated for the treatment of single or mixed infestations caused by Pin worm (Enterobius vermicularis), Whip worm (Trichuris trichuria), Large round worm (Ascaris lumbricoides), Hook worm (Ancylostoma duodenale & Necator americans), Thread worm (Strongyloides stercoralis) & Tape worm (Taenia spp.). It is also indicated in the indicated in the treatment of Echinococcus granulosus infection or hydatid disease.

Adult and Children over 2 years of age: For various types of infestation (except tape worm & thread worm), the usual dose of Estazol is 400 mg i.e. one tablet or 10 ml suspension (2 teaspoonful) as a single dose. For thread worm and tape worm, a single dose of 400 mg is given for three consecutive days. If the patient is not cured on follow up, after 3 weeks, a second course of treatment should be administered. For pin worm infestation 400 mg as single dose and another 400 mg after 7 days can be given. For hydrated disease 400 mg 2 times daily for 28 days in three cycles are given. Intervals of 2 weeks are needed between 2 cycles or as directed by the physician. Children under 2 years of age: Albendazole has been evaluated in children under 2 years of age where a single dose of 200 mg (1 teaspoonful) was found to be effective in common helminth infestation. In Echinococcus granulosus infection (Hydatid disease) the dose is 10 mg/kg body weight for 28 consecutive days.
