CLOVIR 3% W/W 3% W/W 5 GM EYE OINTMENT

Clovir Eye Ointment : Each gram ointment contains Acyclovir BP 30 mg.

Acyclovir is an antiviral agent. It is highly active against Herpes simplex and Varicella zoster in vitro. It is dependent on conversion by viral thymidine kinase, to the active triphosphate compound which then appears selectively, inhibit Herpes virus DNA polymerase enzyme. Acyclovir Ointment rapidly absorbs through the corneal epithelium & superficial ocular tissue, with the result that viral toxic concentration are achieved in aqueous humour.

Clovir Eye Ointment is used for the treatment of Herpes simplex keratis.

Apply ointment into lower conjunctival sac five times daily at 4 hours interval; continue for minimum 3 days after healing.

It is contraindicated to the patients with known history of hypersensitivity to Acyclovir.

Clovir Eye Ointment should not be used after one month from the date of opening the tube.

In some patient mild & transient stringing may occur after application. Also superficial punctuate keratopathy& Blepharitis have been reported.

No adverse report has been recorded during the use of Acyclovir Eye Ointment in pregnancy & lactation.

No clinically significant interactions have been identified resulting from topical administration of other drugs concomitantly with Clovir

Overdosage of topical application of acyclovir 3% is unlikely because of minimal absorption

Store in a cool and dry place. Keep away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not touch the tip of the tube since this may contaminate the product. After one month of the opening do not use the medicine of tube.

Clovir Eye Ointment : Clovir is available in 5 gm tube.
