Description
Bromofen eye drops (Bromfenac sodium INN) is a sterile, topical, non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for ophthalmic use. Iindicated for the treatment of post-operative inflammation and reduction of ocular pain in patients who have undergone cataract extraction. Bromofen is availave as 5 ml sterile opthalmic solution.
Composition
Sterile Eye Drops: Each ml contains Bromfenac sodium INN equivalent to Bromfenac 0.9 mg.
Indications And Uses
Bromofen eye drops is indicated for the treatment of post-operative inflammation and reduction of ocular pain in patients who have undergone cataract extraction.
Dosage And Administration
For the treatment of post-operative inflammation in patients who have undergone cataract extraction, one drop of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution should be applied to the affected eye(s) two times daily beginning 24 hours after cataract surgery and continuing through the first 2 weeks of the post¬ operative period.
Side Effect
The most commonly reported adverse experiences reported following use of bromfenac after cataract surgery include: abnormal sensation in eye, conjunctival hyperemia, eye irritation (including burning/stinging), eye pain, eye pruritus, eye redness, headache, and iritis. These events were reported in 2-7% of patients.
Precaution
It is recommended that Bromfenac ophthalmic solution be used with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies or who are receiving other medications which may prolong bleeding time.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Discard the container 4 weeks after opening.
Contraindications
Bromfenac ophthalmic solution is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation.
