Description
Anosea (Meclizine HCl) is a first generation piperazine-derivative antihistamine that shows marked protective activity against nebulized histamine and used as an antiemetic.
Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains Meclizine HCl USP 50 mg.
Indications And Uses
For the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, dizziness, motion sickness and vertigo.
Dosage And Administration
The usual doses of Anosea (Meclizine HCl) are as follow Nausea and vomiting: 25-50 mg once daily or as directed by physician. Motion sickness: 25-50 mg once daily (1/2 or 1 tablets 1 hour before to travel starts, The dose may be repeated every 24 hours during the journey. Vertigo: 25-100mg daily in divided doses. Radiotherapy induced Nausea and vomiting: 50 mg (Meclizine Hydrochloride) administered 2 to 12 hours prior to radiotherapy.
Side Effect
Drowsiness, dry mouth and, on rare occasions, blurred vision have been reported.
Use In Pregnancy Lactation
Epidemiological studies in pregnant women do not indicate that Meclizine Hydrochloride increases the risk of abnormalities when administered during pregnancy. It has been suggested that, based on available data, Meclizine Hydrochloride presents the lowest risk of teratogenicity and is the drug of first choice in treating nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Meclizine Hydrochloride may be distributed into breast milk. However problem in humans have not been documented.
Storage
Keep in a cool and dry place, protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
Contraindications
Meclizine HCl is contraindicated who have shown hypersensitivity to it.
